I'm not sure if I'm a car guy, or just crazy. Am I the ONLY one that loves noticing automotive themed comments in things that have nothing to do with cars? Rapper Childish Gambino (Donald Glover) had a song that was released on his recent album "Because the internet". The song is called Sweatpants. I enjoyed the line where he mentions Fiskars, and actually makes a logical statement about them! Ain't nobody sicker and my Fisker, "vroom, vroom," / Ain't nobody— (pause) / Fiskers don't make noise when they start up... just so you know... This is just one of many examples. Something I've noticed in rap culture is many artists are also enthusiasts or at least knowledgeable enough to make a legitimate statement. There was a recent post here on Oppo that mentioned Frank Ocean, he's a perfect example for this. He even has a song named after an Integra.. He has a music video of him doing a hill climb type drive in an NSX. It seems pretty lame but I like it, and I thought I'd share and hopefully see if anyone out there on oppositelock feels the same!

Kinja!!!!! I've yet to have a post come out without being ruined by Kinja.. The formatting is strange once again but I'm working on fixing it now.

No, I do too.
"I feel good, per se good state of mind / Drive a red Sterling and the seats recline"

I have no clue, the post was typed up perfectly on google docs and pasted over. It was indented and formatted fine, and when I try to edit it nothing changes. Kinja hasn't been kind to me

I'm not trying to knock what you're saying by any means, but when someone brings up references to cars in rap songs, my mind immediately jumps to this video—and I cringe:
Akon, you may be able to afford a Lamborghini Gallardo, but at least I know not to pronounce the L's. (proof @ 0:58)

Yeah there's an abundance of rappers that no nothing about cars except that they can afford them. Hell, there's a lot of DRIVERS in the world that are like that.

Yeah me too. I learned a lot about cars just trying to figure out what the hell the Beach Boys were talking about:
"She's got a competition clutch with the four on the floor"
"She's ported and relieved and she's stroked and bored"

I have to admit I learned the premise of double clutching through a song haha.

One of my personal favorites from Frank Ocean...
"MX green, bimmer almost black" referring to a green miata and a carbon black BMW

Maybe he's talking about Fiskars scissors and when he's cutting rapping (wrapping*) paper, he likes to pretend he's 5 years old pushing along a Hot Wheels car saying "vroom vroom." Then again....
OK, that was a reach, I should go to bed, lol.
